EE#1 Cite examples of government carrying out its legal authority in their local community.
EE#3 Describe the consequences of not having rules.
L.E.#2 Give examples of authority and the use of power without authority.
MS#1 Describe how the federal government in the United States serves the proposes set forth in the preamble of the Constitution.
MS# 3 Explain how the rule of law protects individual rights and serves the common good.

III Civic Perspective: Content Standard 2.
L.E.#1 Interpret the development and summarize the main points in the Declaration of Independence.
L.E.#2 Interpret the meaning of specific rights guaranteed by the Constitution including religious liberty, free expression, privacy,due process of law and equal protection of the law.
L.E.#3 Explain responsibilities citizens have to uphold the constitutional rights.
MS#3 Identify the essential ideas expressed in the Declaration of Independence and the origins of those ideas and explain how they set the foundation for civic life, politics and government in the United States.
